ASTC Buses to Run during Undefinite 'Chakka Bandha'

GUWAHATI: The indefinite ‘chakka bandh’ called by the All Assam Motor Transport Association (AAMTA) from Monday on various demands is likely to hit public transport across the State. However, ASTC and under ASTC buses will operate during the strike.

In view of the strike, the ASTC will ply 650 buses across State tomorrow. The Corporation would ensure that privately owned under-ASTC buses will also ply from tomorrow. ASTC MD Anand Prakash Tiwari said in a tweet that all necessary arrangements have been made in this regard.

Tiwari tweeted, “ASTC and Under ASTC buses will be operated as usual everywhere. we have requested to DCs/SPs to keep strict vigil and help us to ensure smooth operation tomorrow onward , in view of Chakka badh given by All assam motar transport Organization.”
