Before flood onset; Bongaigaon District Admin reviews preparedness on relief measures

Bongaigaon, 29April: In a bid to check the flood situation in the district during monsoon season, Bongaigaon Administration in coordination District Disaster Management Authority, held a review meeting on preparedness for flood relief at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Thursday.
The meeting was presided over by the DC Nabadeep Pathak.

    At the outset, DC Pathak took stock of flood preparedness by the concern departments including identification of Relief camps,rescue mechanism, construction or repairing of vulnerable embankments,supply of relief materials,special facilities for pregnant women and child in relief camps,supply of baby food,management of sufficient boats and rescue teams for flood affected people, fodder for cattle,pure drinking water and sanitation facilities for inmates of relief camps,relief distribution centres facilities,supply of tarpaulin, candles, medicines etc for inmates of relief camps.


DC Pathak also laid stress on deployment of medical teams for flood affected people and management of community nursery to the flood affected farmers.
Elaborating on the initiatives and preparations, DC Pathak stated that administration is committed for the people in the context of rescue operations, which are to be carried out by the concerned departments to the flood affected people during flood situation, He stated that the administration will leave no stone unturned to rescue the flood affected people of the district and asked the officials of food & civil supply department to ensure timely supply of foods to the affected people so that they should not suffer from malnutrition and starvation.


     He further added that a mobile number 7086793507 along with a landline no.03664-231171 and another tollfree no.1077 will be available round the clock so that people can reach out in these numbers and seek help of District administration in case of any problem faced by them during flood situation.

The meeting was also attended by Abdul Baten Khandakar,MLA, Abhayapuri North LAC and Pradip Sarkar,MLA,Abhayapuri South(SC) LAC, Swapnanil Deka,the Superintendent of Police,Chief Executive Officer,Zilla Parishad,Additional Deputy Commissioners, Sub-Divisional Officer(C), in charge,North Salmara, Circle Officers,Executive Officer and Chairperson of Bongaigaon Municipality Board,Officer of Food Corporation of India and all Heads of Departments,District Project Officer and field officers of District Disaster Management Authority.
